MBABANE – Former Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simanga Nhleko is among the candidates vying for the Eswatini Referees Association (EFA) Chairmanship.

The former top referee will be against Petros Mbingo and Esrom Dlamini in the Chairman positions during the elections to be held on August 18 at a venue yet to be confirmed during the ERA Ordinary General Assembly.
Match Commissioner Kuhle Mkhatshwa will be vying for the Treasurer position uncontested.

The elections are held to fill in the two positions that were left vacant last season.
The nominees were announced by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Ethics Committee Vice-Chairperson Phumzile Thomo on Wednesday (August 7, 2024).

“The Committee wishes to assure the public of its commitment to hold a free and fair election: which promotes principles of transparency without any conflict of interest. Nominees and all interested parties are urged to familiarise themselves with both the electoral code as well as the elections regulations guidelines,” said Thomo.

The committee added that nominees for both positions are banned from engaging in any form of campaign as it is strictly prohibited. She said complains must be submitted in writing including available evidence.
