BUHLENI– Swazi DJ Obsession brings Afro House heat to Mozambique this Saturday.
Eswatini’s Afro House talent, DJ Obsession, is set to light up Mozambique once again this Saturday, July 5, when he takes the stage at The Sunflower Club in Matola City. For Thabiso Ndwandwe, known by his stage name Obsession, the moment represents more than just another gig: it’s the honor of being recognized internationally for his craft.
“It comes with great honor to be recognized internationally,” he says. “We work so hard to put a name for ourselves out there. With 3 Step Afro House music lately dominating, getting a booking beyond borders comes as a privilege to me. Mozambique has become my second home, with more bookings coming every year. The love is growing that side, and I’m so grateful.”
Obsession’s relationship with The Sunflower Club is built on trust and quality performance. He explains that the club’s owner personally booked him for this show after being impressed by his set last year:
“We have had a good working relationship over the past years. I played there last year, he loved my performance.”
Saturday’s show promises something special for the Mozambican crowd. Obsession says fans can expect an exclusive preview of unreleased music:
“Definitely, I’m looking forward to dishing out new music. There’s a couple of my own songs I’ll play at the event. I haven’t released them yet, so I’m excited to see the reception out there.”
He’ll be sharing the stage with resident DJs Emon Songz and DJ MP, collaborators he holds in high regard:
“It is always nice to play with them. They are very good DJs and they always make sure they warm up the crowd before a performance. I’m looking forward to playing with them again.”
Originally from Buhleni and now based in Mbabane, Obsession has been immersed in music since 2017, when he first began DJing as part of a group. He went solo in 2023 and has been steadily building a name as both DJ and producer in the Afro House scene.
For Obsession, this Mozambique show is both a testament to his growth and a sign of the region’s increasing appetite for Swazi talent. As bookings across borders increase, he continues to represent Eswatini proudly, proving that hard work, originality, and collaboration truly know no borders.
