MBABANE – Renowned Local Government Executive Gciniwe Fakudze has been unveiled as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Municipal Council of Mbabane.

Fakudze was unveiled today (Friday, July 12, 2024) at the conference room of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. She was unveiled by Minister of Housing and Urban Development Apollo Maphalala. Fakudze is supposed to start working from August 19, 2024. She will be given a five-year contract.

Minister Maphalala stated that he had faith that Fakudze was going to improve the state of the capital city. He said Fakudze was found to have been a suitable candidate for the Mbabane ‘hot seat,’ after a long recruitment process had been concluded.

The minister expressed hope that during the five-year contract, Fakudze was going to do her job in a diligent manner. He mentioned that he expected Fakudze to implement the mandate given by Emaswati during Sibaya, which was in October and November last year.

Maphalala said Emaswati made it clear that corruption should be eliminated and service delivery should be done in a speedy manner.

Speaking after the conference, Fakudze was happy to have become a CEO of the Municipal Council of Mbabane. She said she was ready to work cooperatively with the people of Mbabane.

Fakudze said as a CEO, there was no way she could work on her own, without involving the residents of this city. She said she was mindful of the fact that there were people who called this Urban area their home. He said some people did their businesses in this city. Therefore, there was a need for the Council to consider their aspirations, as it took the city forward.
