MBABANE – Girls have proven to be more competitive in both Junior Certificate (JC) and Eswatini Primary Certificate (EPC) examinations in the year 2024.

According to the 2024 JC and EPC results released today by Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo, Fanele Bongiwe Methula from St. Michael’s High School is the country’s top Junior Certificate (JC) pupil with an aggregate of 97 percent, while Ayesha Tshabalala from Malkerns Valley Primary School and Thandeka Kiesha Dlamini from the Little School are top performing Eswatini Primary Certificate (EPC) pupils at 81 percent respectively.

Minister Nxumalo commended the work done by the teachers, parents, as well as the learners. “I would like to commend and appreciate the hard work done by head teachers, teachers, learners and parents during the 2024 academic year. Teachers defied many odds to cover the syllabus ensuring that by the time of the examinations, learners were ready,” Nxumalo said.

Nxumalo also expressed pride in the Examinations Council of Eswatini (ECESWA) for being able to deliver results in record time. He said the parastatal had done this for the second consecutive time. “I would like to commend ECESWA for delivering the EPC and JC examinations results in record time, yet again. The early release of results gives parents and guardians enough time to look for spaces for their children for their next grades,” Nxumalo said.

The minister also stated why it was important for results to be delivered early. He further warned head teachers against admitting top-performing pupils only. “This helps, as the successful learners will be looking for places in Forms 1 and 4. May I remind all head teachers to follow the Ministry’s policies and procedures by admitting all qualifying students regardless of their pass categories,” he said.
