MBABANE – The Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, under the stewardship of Minister Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to rural development and poverty alleviation.

On Monday, the Minister handed over three transformative income-generating projects valued at over E3.4 million to the Mhlume Inkhundla community, marking another milestone in the Government’s fight against poverty.

These projects, funded by the Government’s Regional Development Fund (RDF), a brainchild of His Majesty King Mswati III, seek to uplift communities and enhance socio-economic conditions across the four regions of the Kingdom of Eswatini.

The projects include:

• A TLB (Tractor-Loader-Backhoe) worth E1.9 million, handed over to Siyambulela Multipurpose Cooperative.

• A 4-tonne Ripper and 20-disc Harrow valued at E384,000, provided to Imphilo Yetfu Multipurpose Cooperative.

• A Trailer worth E1.2 million, granted to Wotakitsi Enterprise.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Minister Sikhumbuzo highlighted the RDF’s role as a “flagship of success” in driving rural development.

He emphasized that income-generating projects such as these are central to Government’s mission of reducing poverty and fostering self-reliance among emaSwati.

“As it has been evidenced today, the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development through the Regional Development Fund has continued to spearhead Government’s programmes focused on rural development and poverty reduction. These projects not only generate income but also uplift entire communities by creating sustainable livelihoods,” the Minister stated.

Dlamini issued a challenge to emaSwati, particularly the youth and people living with disabilities, urging them to seize the opportunities presented by the RDF to establish enterprises and break the cycle of poverty.

“I urge today’s beneficiaries and community members to safeguard their properties jealously, as Government through the Regional Development Fund has contributed colossal sums of money to ensure Mhlume achieves an improved socio-economic status,” he said.

The Ministry is currently conducting an impact assessment of all RDF-implemented projects.

Dlamini noted that the results of this assessment will inform future reviews of RDF regulations, ensuring the fund remains effective and responsive to community needs.

These projects represent more than just tools and machinery, they are a beacon of hope for Mhlume and a testament to the transformative power of community-driven development. By investing in these initiatives, Government reaffirms its dedication to improving the quality of life for all emaSwati.

As the Kingdom of Eswatini continues to prioritize sustainable development, the success of these projects will undoubtedly inspire more communities to take advantage of the Regional Development Fund and embark on their own journeys toward prosperity.
