GOVERNMENT TO INTEGRATE KING’S SPEECH INTO PROGRAMME OF ACTION

MBABANE – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has pledged to incorporate key elements of His Majesty King Mswati III’s Speech from the Throne into the Government’s Programme of Action (POA).

Reacting to the King’s speech, which was delivered on Friday, Dlamini emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing the outlined directives, particularly the announcement of an elderly grant increase.

“On Friday, we listened attentively to the wisdom and guidance of His Majesty King Mswati III as he delivered the Speech from the Throne, marking the official opening of the 2nd Session of the 12th Parliament,” the Prime Minister stated.

Embracing the Year of Transformation

Dlamini highlighted that the King’s speech addressed pressing national challenges, reflecting the aspirations of Emaswati, as expressed during Sibaya. He reiterated the government’s commitment to the declaration of 2025 as the Year of Transformation.

“In alignment with His Majesty’s vision, we will incorporate key aspects of the speech into our Programme of Action and relentlessly drive the transformation agenda. Sekhuta Li-Bayethe in response to His Majesty’s command to increase elderly grants,” Dlamini affirmed.

Prioritizing National Development

The Prime Minister further stated that the government is fully committed to tackling critical national priorities, including:

  • Strengthening the healthcare system
  • Enhancing education and skills development
  • Creating job opportunities and empowering the youth
  • Fighting corruption with greater intensity
  • Addressing other pressing socio-economic issues

He emphasized the government’s reliance on faith and divine guidance, echoing the King’s trust in God Almighty.

“Indeed, we are nothing without God. We place our trust in Him for success in all we do. The lion has roared! Now it is our turn to move forward with unwavering determination—Nkwe—to fulfill this command. Bayethe! Wena Waphakathi,” he declared.

Key Directives from the Speech

The Speech from the Throne outlined several fundamental goals for the nation’s progress, including:

  • Increased elderly grants to improve the welfare of senior citizens.
  • Universal access to water and electricity by 2030 to enhance the quality of life for all citizens.
  • Cleanliness and environmental sustainability, ensuring Eswatini remains an attractive destination for tourists.
  • Affordable and high-quality healthcare, making essential medical services accessible to all Emaswati.

With these priorities set, the government now moves forward to translate His Majesty’s vision into action, ensuring meaningful progress and national development.
