PHONJWANE, GILGAL INKHUNDLA – In a significant step towards improving public safety and accessibility to government services, the Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, Hon. Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, officially handed over newly constructed office structures to the Royal Eswatini Police Services (REPS) at Phonjwane today.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Minister Dlamini said the initiative forms part of the Government’s ongoing Decentralisation Programme aimed at bringing services closer to the people.
“This is part of Government’s Decentralisation programme, which is bringing services closer to the people,” said the Minister. “The initiative to have the Royal Eswatini Police Services [in Phonjwane] will go a long way towards addressing the policing needs here and in the surrounding communities.”
The new structure will function as a Police Post and is expected to strengthen the presence of law enforcement in the area, thereby improving security and community wellbeing.
Also present at the event was the National Commissioner of the Police Services, Vusi Manoma Masango, who expressed gratitude to the Ministry for the gesture.
“We appreciate this gesture from the Ministry and promise to remain committed to serving and protecting emaSwati,” said Commissioner Masango. “This structure will be used as a Police Post which will help prevent stock theft, gangsterism, and gender-based violence (GBV) in Phonjwane and surrounding areas.”
Local residents and community leaders welcomed the development, noting it would go a long way in deterring criminal activity and ensuring timely police response.
The establishment of the new Police Post marks yet another milestone in Eswatini’s effort to improve public service delivery and ensure peace and safety across all regions of the kingdom.
