MBABANE – It was a joyful and memorable occasion for Nkosinathi Ngwenya (48) of Nsingweni, under Maphalaleni Inkhundla, as he received a two-roomed house with a bathroom from Her Majesty the Indlovukazi.

The house was officially handed over on 9 July 2025 by Acting Deputy Prime Minister Jane Mkhonta-Simelane, who led the delegation on behalf of Her Majesty. The ceremony took place at Nsingweni, and the moment marked a significant improvement in Ngwenya’s living conditions.

Ngwenya’s plight had earlier been brought to Her Majesty’s attention by emissary Ntombi Matse, who acted swiftly to ensure the matter was addressed. During the assessment, Ngwenya also raised concerns about a neighbour in a similar situation, who will also receive assistance.

This humanitarian effort was made possible through the collaboration between the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO) and the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA).

The handover ceremony was attended by Hhohho Regional Administrator Princess Tsandzile, Chief Maloyi, and Principal Secretary Siboniso Nkambule. In her remarks, Acting DPM Mkhonta-Simelane congratulated Ngwenya, saying, “Siyakubongela mnaketfu,” and reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to the Nkwe mandate, which focuses on supporting vulnerable Emaswati across the country.

She emphasised that the country’s collaboration with the United Nations is expected to yield further support, helping to meet the needs of more citizens.

The Acting DPM praised Ngwenya for thinking beyond his own situation by drawing attention to his neighbour’s challenges, calling it a demonstration of true community spirit.

In a touching gesture, Ntombi Matse also presented Ngwenya with a bed, a gift from former Minister of Health Sibongile Simelane, and a blanket from Inkhosikati LaNkambule.

The event not only marked the handing over of a house but stood as a testament to compassion, unity, and the enduring commitment of Their Majesties to improving the lives of the most vulnerable in Eswatini.
