MBABANE – The Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) will enhance security measures after a skirmish unsure during the Ingwenyama Cup Regional finals on Sunday at Prince of Wales Sports Ground.

The unruly behavior occurred during the game pitting Emajukujuku and Zibonele Vultures at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground. The game ended with a 1-all draw with Emajukujuku winning 8-7 after penalties.

HRFA Secretary General Nkosingiphile Shongwe it was an unfortunate incident and it lead to the property damage including  a vehicle belonging to the Honourable Ntfonjeni Member of Parliament (MP) Raymond Dlamini

“On behalf of the Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA), I extend our deepest apologies for the unruly behaviour that occurred during an SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup. We regret any distress or inconvenience this incident may have caused and remain committed to upholding the values of sportsmanship and respect,” reads part of the statement.

Shongwe added that the HRFA Executive Committee is actively addressing this matter and is currently awaiting the official match reports.

“Once these reports are received, the implicated individual(s) will be summoned before the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee to account for their actions. This step underscores our commitment to accountability and maintaining the integrity of our events,” he said.

He added that to prevent such incidents in the future, they were implementing the following measures, enhanced security measures that will strengthen collaboration with law enforcement to ensure a safe environment for all stakeholders, revised event policies that will enforce stricter codes of conduct for attendees, with clear penalties for violations and stakeholder engagement to actively involve all stakeholders to foster mutual respect and ensure a positive atmosphere at future events.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this matter. Please feel free to reach out with any concerns or suggestions for improving the safety and enjoyment of our events.

Once again, we sincerely apologize and thank you for your unwavering support,” he concluded.
