MBABANE – The Eswatini Hockey Association (EHA) national squads are gearing up for the Central-South Africa qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations (ACN) 2025, that are scheduled to take place at the St John’s Educational Trust Astro Turf in Harare, Zimbabwe from August 17-24, 2024.
Eswatini is among the five confirmed countries being Malawi, Zambia, Namibia and the host nation Zimbabwe, who will be participating in the qualifiers. Each country is expected to bring both women and men’s squads.
In the Central-South Africa Qualifiers, the top two teams in the men’s category and the top three teams in the women’s category will qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (ACN) 2025. Both Eswatini Hockey Women’s and Men national teams are expected to kick-off these qualifiers against Zambia on August 17, 2024 at 10am. The finals and third place play-offs for both categories are scheduled for August 24, 2024.
Among Eswatini women’s squad will be Taylor Hulley and Mvala Thwala, who the association described as a beacon of hope and testament to the promising future of Eswatini’s hockey.
Meanwhile, Ozayo Mamba, who plays as an attacking midfielder, will be making his much-anticipated debut in the tournament.
