HLATHIKHULU – The Eswatini National Nutrition Council (ENNC) has distributed breastfeeding cushions to mothers at Hlathikhulu Government Hospital to promote comfort and support.
The gifts, donated by partners such as the Tzu Chi Foundation and Lush Hair, were distributed by the team on Friday, August 22, 2025, as part of the World Breastfeeding Week 2025 celebrations and a nationwide effort to strengthen breastfeeding support systems, reinforcing the message that mothers are not alone on their breastfeeding journey.
This year’s theme, “Prioritize Breastfeeding Create Sustainable Support Systems,” The visit followed similar activities earlier this month on August 7, 2025 at Mankayane Government Hospital, where mothers were honored in a heartwarming celebration.
“Breastfeeding is a powerful foundation for child survival, growth, and development,” said Sniketiwe Zwane, Head of Programme at the ENNC. “Through these visits, we are showing mothers that the government and its partners stand firmly with them.”
Alongside cushion distribution, healthcare workers are receiving guidance on providing breastfeeding-friendly services, while mothers participate in educational sessions designed to equip them with the knowledge and confidence to continue breastfeeding.
The ENNC expressed Its gratitude to hospital management and staff for ensuring the success of these celebrations.
