MBABANE – Eswatini Professional golfer James Pennington will take it to the greens in the year 2025 by competing in the Mediclinic Invitational.
He is so far the only Liswati that have entered for the first tournament under Sunshine tour in 2025 that has already 140 golfers entered. Other Emaswati who were competing under the Sunshine Tour which is the men’s professional golf tour based in Southern and East Africa are Mandla Dlamini Jnr and Brandon-Jude Rennie who have not entered for the tournament.
The four days tournament will be played at the Heron Banks Golf & River Resort which is a modern 18 hole par 71 Danie Obermeyer links-type style designed sanctuary that is situated right on the border of the Free State and Gauteng Provinces along a 3km riverfront stretch of the Vaal River in Vaalpark, according to the sunshine tour.com.
The course is just over 6,6km long with beautiful greens and fairways in addition to a well-kept driving range and putting green. It is besieged by stunning natural vegetation, amazing scenery and wildlife which feature a variety of birds including the famous Blue Heron
The defending champion of the tournament is Ryan Van Velzen.
There are a lot of tournament to be played under the Sunshine according to the scheduled with over 20 tournament scheduled before end of April.
