MBABANE – Ka Mzizi residents in the Shiselweni region have showcased the true spirit of community by taking it upon themselves to restore roads damaged by heavy rains earlier this month.
With schools set to reopen next week, the residents have worked tirelessly to ensure that children and other members of the community can travel safely.
Armed with basic tools and an unwavering determination, the community has repaired several sections of the road network. However, challenges remain at a few critical crossings where further intervention is needed to complete the work.
“We couldn’t sit back and wait while our children’s access to education was at risk. This is our home, and we all need to play a role in making it better,” said one of the residents leading the initiative.
The Ka Mzizi residents’ efforts not only alleviate the burden on government resources but also demonstrate the power of collaboration and self-reliance in addressing local challenges.
Their efforts are a reminder of what can be achieved when communities unite for a common goal. It is hoped that these exemplary acts of citizenship will inspire others and encourage additional support to complete the necessary repairs in time for the new school term.
