NHLANGANO – When the fierce January storms tore through Eswatini, leaving roads submerged, farmlands drowned, and bridges swept away, many in Nhlangano feared their connection to the rest of the country was lost for good. Among the hardest hit was the KaMjuda Bridge, a lifeline for families, farmers, and small businesses — which crumbled under the pressure of raging floods.
But today, just a few months later, the KaMjuda Bridge stands tall once more, stronger and more resilient than ever, thanks to the unwavering efforts of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MoPWT).
The sight of the reconstructed bridge is more than just concrete and steel — it is a symbol of renewal, determination, and unity. Where isolation once threatened livelihoods, cars now hum steadily across the span, reconnecting families, reviving local markets, and restoring the spirit of a community that refused to be broken.
While final touches remain — including the installation of guardrails, road signs, and vital erosion control — the reopening of KaMjuda Bridge has already transformed daily life in the area. Farmers can once again deliver fresh produce, children can safely reach their schools, and small businesses can welcome customers without fear.
This achievement reflects more than engineering skill; it reveals the heart of a nation determined to rise after disaster. As #MyNDMAInAction continues to strengthen disaster preparedness, Eswatini sends a clear message to its people: we rebuild, we recover, and we stand stronger together.
