MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III has congratulated His Excellency Sir Keir Starmer for being elected as a prime minister of the United Kingdom.
The King did this through Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, who made the congratulatory remarks on his Facebook page. “On behalf of His Majesty King Mswati III, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Government and the People of the Kingdom of Eswatini, I wish to congratulate H.E Sir Keir Starmer on his landslide victory as the newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,” Dlamini said.
The PM stated that the Kingdom of Eswatini was confident that as Starmer embarked on his new term in office, the United Kingdom would continue to prosper and make significant strides to maintain peace and stability, and that he would steer the nation to even greater heights.
“In joining the United Kingdom in this joyous occasion, we express our firm belief that the cordial relations between our Nations will grow and be strengthened for the benefit of our Peoples,” Dlamini concluded.
Starmer assumed the UK PM office on Friday last week (July 5, 2024). He succeeded former UK PM Rishi Sunak, who became the premier from October 25, 2022. Sunak relinquished the seat after his Conservative Party has lost the 2024 UK General Elections, in favour of the Labour Party. The Labour Party is under the leadership of Starmer.
