MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III has given an ambulance to Good Shepherd Hospital.
The ambulance was delivered on March 21, 2025 by Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula. Matsebula handed over the ambulance to Good Shepherd Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muzi Dlamini. When handing over the ambulance, Matsebula urged the management and the entire staff to take care of this tool.
Matsebula said it was not common for an institution such as Good Shepherd to receive an ambulance from His Majesty the King. Matsebula said the king had emphasised to him that the ambulance should be given to Good Shepherd. It was warmly received by the CEO and some members of the management of the health institution, who expressed gratitude for having received the ambulance.
This comes three days after His Majesty the King has conferred over 100 health science students of Good Shepherd College of Health Sciences.
The event saw the students receiving certificates and diplomas in different health science courses such as general nursing, midwifery, occupational health and safety among others.
The king commended the students for having shown commitment during their studies, as they did not misbehave. His Majesty had no doubt that the students would positively contribute in giving quality services to the nation in their different work stations.
The king also called upon stakeholders to work on making sure that the college became a university. He said he also received such a request when he attended the Ngwane Teachers College in Nhlangano last year. During his presence, he witnessed many different traditional dances such as Ummiso, Sibhaca, Ingadla, Choral music, poems, among other performances. During his speech, he said his presence during the graduation at Good Shepherd had set a precedence for his presence each time there was a graduation at the college.
He blessed the graduation of the students and also toured different departments within the college and the hospital. The king also officially opened the E17 million outpatient department (OPD) of the hospital. He also officially opened the E10 million eye clinic at the hospital, which he named Vulamehlo Yemaswati Eye Clinic.
