KING OPENS E3.1M UNESWA DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTRE

KWALUSENI – His Majesty King Mswati III has officially opened a Disability Support Resource Centre, which is worth E3.1 million, at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA).

This happened yesterday (Saturday, October 5, 2024) at UNESWA’s Kwaluseni Campus. The opening of the facility was marking the start of the 42nd graduation ceremony at UNESWA.

The building is expected to help the people with disabilities, as they enjoy their right to education. The building has materials such as book written in braille.

The facility was made possible by Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM). The opening of the building was also witnessed by Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Principal Secretary Phesheya Dube and ESCCOM Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mvilawemphi Dlamini.

Speaking about the building, His Majesty the King said he was grateful to ESCCOM for ensuring that the building was finally built. He said it was encouraging to see that UNESWA was delivering on its mandate, which was to make sure that education was accessible to everyone.

Through the state-of-the-art building, the king expressed hope that people with disabilities also enjoyed the use of technology. He said he looked forward to seeing more innovation that would enable UNESWA to keep producing relevant content that was going to help the nation develop their lives.
