MBABANE – Members of the public have been given an opportunity to learn on how to lead effectively during times of uncertainties.

What will be unique about this opportunity is that the nation will learn about leadership in a relaxed environment, where they will be networking with the country’s renowned leadership gurus, who are leading the country’s successful companies.

This is what is expected to be brought by the Leadership Growth Forum (LGF), a non-profit organisation that seeks to teach members of the public on leadership skills, among other things. The LGF has organised an inaugural Year-End Leadership Cocktail Dinner, set to inspire and connect leaders, visionaries, and emerging change-makers. This exclusive event will take place on November 29, 2024, at House on Fire at the picturesque Malkerns Valley.

Under the theme, “Navigating Diversity, Inspiring Leadership,” the event will feature renowned speakers; Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng and Nyimpini Mabunda. This leadership experience aims to empower attendees to navigate a diverse and rapidly evolving world.

Professor Phakeng, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Town, is celebrated for her dedication to education, resilience in leadership, and her commitment to social causes, such as her Adopt-a-Learner Foundation, which supports underprivileged students in South Africa. Her impactful journey and expertise in educational reform have gained her numerous accolades, including the Africa Education Medal.

Adding to the event’s depth, Nyimpini Mabunda, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Southern Africa at General Electric, brings over 25 years of experience leading global consumer and telecom giants across Africa and the United Kingdom (UK). Known for his work in business turnaround, strategy, and digital transformation, Mabunda will offer valuable insights into the role of diversity and innovation in leadership.

During an interview today with Mabunda, the CEO promised that the people who would be there would not regret being at the cocktail dinner. He mentioned that he would share tips and experiences on what it took for one to be able to lead during uncertainties. He even mentioned that about half of the population worldwide had either gone to the polls or they are still going to the polls. He mentioned that countries such as South Africa, India, Botswana, USA, Mozambique, Russia, United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Chile, and many others had gone to the polls.

This being the year of elections worldwide, Mabunda said a lot of uncertainties were brought to members of the public world over, as new Governments were being installed in the over 100 countries globally that participated in the elections this year. He said the political decisions made during the elections had an effect on the economies of these countries. The economies had to be built by the leaders. He said this was an opportunity for leaders in the event to learn how to lead during difficult and uncefrtain times. Mabunda said in times like these, leaders would be effective only if they networked with other leaders and shared ideas on how to navigate the uncertainties. He said Eswatini was likely to develop only if its leaders would take advantage of such forums and events to learn the traits used by other leaders in their respective fields of work.
