KALANGA- Lubombo Central High School dazzled audiences at the Schools Culture Day Competition held on August 6, 2025, at KaLanga Royal Kraal, Siteki, claiming the top spot in the Choral Music category.
Their stirring rendition of “Senteni Nah?” not only captivated listeners but also highlighted the profound emotional connections that music can foster within a community.
Building on their previous success at the Eswatini Bank Schools Choral Music Competition 2025, where they also took 1st Place in the Mixed A Category, the Lubombo Central High School Mixed Choir once again demonstrated their prowess. Under the expert guidance of their outstanding conductor, Mr. S. Ndzinisa, who received the prestigious “Best Conductor” nod, the choir stood out among their peers.

Competing against nine primary schools and seven high schools from the Lubombo region, Lubombo Central’s harmonious blend of voices and passionate performance shone through in a highly competitive environment. Each school presented unique interpretations of traditional pieces, but Lubombo Central’s commitment to excellence and their ability to convey the song’s heartfelt message resonated profoundly with the judges and audience alike.
The competition, themed “Ngemakhono nemasiko Sisive,” aimed to celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of Eswatini. It provided a platform for schools to not only compete but also to unite in a shared appreciation for their heritage. In addition to Choral Music, categories included Ummiso, Sibhaca, and African Dance, showcasing a variety of artistic expressions.
The event was graced by the presence of Eswatini National Arts and Culture CEO Stanley Dlamini, who emphasized the importance of cultural events in fostering community spirit and pride. Chief Jozane Maziya also praised all participants for their vibrant displays of tradition and talent, underscoring the significance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations.

Claiming the top prize, along with a cow, was a significant achievement for Lubombo Central High School, symbolizing not just victory in a contest but also a recognition of their hard work and commitment to the arts. Their performance serves as an inspiration to other schools in the region, highlighting the impact of music in promoting cultural values and cohesion.
This triumph in the Choral Music category underscores the vital role of arts education in schools, encouraging students to explore their creativity while honoring their cultural roots.
