MBABANE – The Standard Bank Luju Festival is becoming one of the country’s premier events.
This view was expressed by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini this past Saturday after attending the event at Malandela’s Lawn in Malkerns. Speaking on his social media pages, Dlamini said it was so heartwarming to witness Emaswati enjoying themselves and celebrating their African identity, feasting on traditional cuisine and swaying to African sounds.
“The Luju Festival is fast becoming one of Eswatini’s premier events, bringing the world together in a celebration of arts, culture and fun. It further presents an opportunity for MSMEs to do business,” Dlamini said.
The prime minister further encouraged more companies to join hands with Standard Bank Eswatini to promote what belonged to Emaswati. “We encourage more local companies to join hands with Standard Bank Eswatini in coming up with similar concepts that promote what is authentically ours and proudly cement our African identity,” he said.
In June this year, the premier visited Malandela’s Lawn, which was hosting the MTN Bushfire Festival. During that event, Dlamini was impressed by the work that was put in by the House on Fire crew, which organised the MTN Bushfire Festival. The prime minister said it was Government’s wish to see the country being one of the countries that were known to host big festivals that were known internationally.
So far, the country has hosted more than 10 festivals, since the beginning of the year, with others still coming. They include two editions of Buganu Ceremonies, Mahamba Gorge Hiking Challenge, MTN Bushfire Festival, Umuthi Fest, Momo Xperience, Epic Gig, Embiveni Biggest Braai, Standard Bank Luju Festival, Kugugothandayo among others.
