MANKAYANE – In a heartfelt show of unity, the community of Mankayane gathered on Friday, May 9, to take a bold step toward a safer future—one free from gender-based violence (GBV).

Hosted through a powerful collaboration between the Board, the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, Sivusative Nengcebo, Kwakha Indvodza, and the Ministry of Health, the dialogue session brought men and women together for open, empowering conversations about GBV and its impact on families and society.

Leading the session were Board Councillor Thembi Mabeleza and CEO David Madlopha, joined by partner representatives who inspired a shared vision for change. Community members engaged in thoughtful discussions, learning how to recognize, address, and prevent GBV in their homes and neighborhoods.

“We are truly grateful for the support of our government and all our partners,” said Madlopha. “Bringing this dialogue to Mankayane is more than symbolic—it’s a step toward lasting change.”

He also unveiled plans for a locally driven community project to promote safety, raise awareness, and support GBV survivors—reinforcing the session’s message of collective action.

As the event concluded, organizers thanked participants for their honesty and commitment, reaffirming that ending GBV begins with empowered communities and united voices.
