MBABANE – The Tinkhundla Talent Search Cross-Country Competition will be held in three zones under the Manzini Region on Saturday (October 12, 2024).
The venues are Mkhiweni/ Luve, Mtfongwaneni and Ngwempisi. In all the three venues, the race will start at 7am.
“We’re gearing up for the next leg of the competition. This Saturday, October 12, we’ll be heading to the Manzini Region for another thrilling round of cross-country action.
Come out to support and witness the incredible talent from all around the region as they showcase their talent and passion for athletics,” reads a statement from Athletics Eswatini (AE).
Under athletics, the Tinkhundla Centres from each region are divided into zones that compete in three categories being the 10-15 years for 3km, 15-20 years for 6km and then 10km for the open category.
The four Tinkhundla Centres to compete under Mkhiweni, Luve are Mkhiweni, Kukhanyeni, Nkomiyahlaba and Mafutseni. The Tinkhundla centres for to compete at Mtfongwaneni are Ludzeludze, Kwaluseni, Manzini South, Manzini North, Mtfongwaneni, Nhlambeni, Lobamba Lomdzala and Phondo.
The other Tinkhundla Centres being LaMgabhi, Ntondozi, Ngwempisi and Mahlangatsha will get down to business at Ngwempisi.
The cross-country is part of the four activities that were sponsored to the tune of E2 million by the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs under the Tinkhundla National Talent Competition.
This is one way the Ministry is trying to identify talent from the Tinkhundla Centres.
Athletes will now win big in the Tinkhundla Talent Search Athletics Competitions after the Athletics Eswatini (AE) increased the E350 000 from government with E100 000 making it E450 000 worth of prizes.
