MBABANE – The Matsapha Police Academy has officially been granted full accreditation by the Eswatini Higher Education Council (ESHEC), marking a significant milestone in its journey towards becoming a recognised institution of higher learning.

The accreditation was awarded during a ceremony held yesterday (Thursday, August 1, 2024) at the Academy’s premises in Matsapha.

Chief Executive Officer of ESHEC, Dr Loretta Mkhonta, officiated the accreditation event and emphasised the Academy’s comprehensive approach to education. “The Academy has not only focused on police training, but has also met all the requirements set forth by ESHEC, demonstrating a commitment to higher educational standards,” she stated.

Dr Mkhonta commended the dedication and efforts of both the police service and the staff at the Academy, highlighting their role in fostering a conducive learning environment. “You have created an environment that is not only conducive to learning but also reflects the high standards we expect in higher education,” she said.

The event was attended by key figures, including the National Commissioner of Police, represented by Senior Deputy National Commissioner Sula Dlamini. Dlamini expressed his gratitude to ESHEC for their guidance throughout the accreditation process, acknowledging it as a pivotal moment for the Academy.

“This milestone brings great joy to us as an organisation dedicated to the consistent pursuit of service excellence and professionalism,” he remarked.

In light of the Academy’s new status, ESHEC encouraged the introduction of degree courses, citing the presence of a significant number of staff members with Master’s degrees and sufficient classroom facilities. This development could enhance educational opportunities for individuals seeking to advance their careers within the police service and beyond.

The accreditation not only elevates the Matsapha Police Academy’s status but also reflects the ongoing efforts to improve training and education standards within the Eswatini Police Service. With this new recognition, the Academy aims to further its mission of providing high-quality education and training, paving the way for a more professional and skilled police organisation in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
