MBABANE – Princess Lungile is now officially in charge of Mbabane Swallows after the Management Committee (MC) Chaired by Welile Mabuza officially handed over the club.
The MC officially vacated office as from Wednesday (November 20, 204) alongside the National Supporters Committee (NSC). The team MC and the NSC said they have deemed necessary that they vacate office and handover the team to Prince Lungile and her newly appointed Board of Directors for the smooth running of the team.
In a press statement released by the MC on Wednesday, they said it has become apparent that there were now two anchors of power and that cannot hold, especially if they want the brand of Mbabane Swallows to survive.
The letter directed to Prince Lungile was also copied to the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), Eswatini Football Association (EFA), Bishop Bheki Lukhele and their main sponsor, Eclipse Investment. It was signed by the Acting President Absalom Ngwenya, MC Chairman Welile Mabuza and the NSC Chairman Mboni Dludlu.
The MC vacates office after some financial constraints that saw the teams failing to pay their players salaries. The players even took the team to CMAC.
“It is on those grounds that for the love of the team and Mbabane Swallows FC brand, we feel we have to officially vacate office and handover the team you Princess, as an esteemed shareholder of Mbabane Swallows (Pty) Ltd with immediate effect. Two powers cannot hold and we cannot allow Mbabane Swallows FC to be split into two halves akin the biblical story as found in Kings 3: 16-28 wherein one woman wanted a child split into two.
We are ready and willing to facilitate all necessary documentation with all Mbabane Swallows stakeholders such at PLE, sponsors and financial institutions so that the tam is ready to honour its official game over the weekend,” reads part of the statement.
Mbabane Swallows will play Rangers on Sunday at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium kick-off 2:30pm.
The MC said they will wait for an invitation from Princes Lungile to discuss among other things assets of the team, liabilities, players contracts, pending litigations and sponsorship agreements.
The MC said it was happy that it vacates office with the team top of the table in the MTN Premier League while it has also competed in the CAF Champions League.
They said they remain committed in supporting the club.
