MBABANE – Music Is My Way Out!
MJAY De King, born Sifiso Jayson Msibi, may only be 21 years old, but his determination and raw talent speak volumes. Hailing from the quiet streets of Mpolonjeni, Mbabane, this rising star is already carving out a name for himself in Eswatini’s music scene, with dreams that stretch far beyond the kingdom.
For Msibi, music has always been a lifeline—a way to escape the harsh realities of life and an outlet for his powerful voice. “I started singing when I was very young. That’s when I knew that I had a voice that could change lives,” he says. Music isn’t just his passion; it’s his survival, his hope, and his ticket to a brighter future.
As the eldest of five siblings, he carries the weight of his family’s survival on his shoulders. With no stable job and only occasional piece jobs to rely on, he faces the constant struggle of balancing his dream with his day-to-day survival. “Sometimes I get E100 from a job, and I have to choose—do I buy food or do I record my song?” he shares.
Despite these challenges, Msibi remains focused and determined. He often pleads with music producers to let him record at reduced costs, refusing to let anything get in the way of his dream. “This is all I have. I have to keep pushing, because I know I will make it. Music is in me, and I won’t give up on it.”
His resilience is matched only by his ambition. He believes that his music offers something fresh and unique. “What I’m coming with is different. In five years, they will remember the name MJAY De King,” he confidently states.
MJAY De King is more than just an aspiring artist; he is a symbol of perseverance, a beacon of hope for anyone who dares to dream. His message to fellow aspiring artists is simple: “Keep going, harder than now. You will make it.”
