MBABANE – The Women Football National team, Sitsebe faces a tough task as they face Namibia in the second leg of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers this afternoon.

The match is billed for Dobsonville, Soweto South Africa, kick-off 3pm. The Bongani Makhukhula led side goes to the match trailing 0-3 after the defeat in the first leg match of the first preliminary played at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Sitsebe will have to produce an upset against the Namibian side that have won both their last two matches, one in the COSAFA Cup last November, 2-0 win and then the latest 3-0 defeat.

Sitsebe conceded early in the first leg match, a minute into the game through Viola Vliete and they were trailing 2-0 before 20 minutes through a goal scored by Ivonne Kooper. From there they were able to put their foot down and were able to control the game.

In the second half, they were able to create some chances but failed to convert. They then conceded in additional time to finish the game trailing 0-3. The goal was scored by Vanessa Kanyama.

Sitsebe Coach who is also Manzini Wanderers Ladies Coach Bongani Makhukhula said they will to give up but they will approach the game with a positive mind.

He said there is still a lot to fight for. There is hope for Sitsebe in the match as they are playing in a neutral venue and Namibia will not be enjoying home ground as Sitsebe did last Friday.

The winner between the two sides will then play Zambia in the second round of the preliminaries.

The WAFCON 2026, will be the 16th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial international football championship organised by Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the women’s national teams of Africa. The tournament will be played in Morocco for the third consecutive time.

Twelve teams will qualify for the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON.
