MBABANE –the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and trade has appointed Director of International Trade Lungile Dlamini to help Eswatini businesses to see how they can continue working around the political tensions currently taking place in Mozambique.
In a statement issued today, Tuesday, December 31, 2024, the Ministry assured Emaswati, especially businesses operating within the country, that it continued to monitor the situation to advise the business community on what to do. In the meantime, the Ministry pleads with the business community to take precaution regarding the situation in Mozambique.
“Owing to the ongoing civil strife in the Republic of Mozambique and cognisant that some sectors of our economy mainly fuel, sugar and others do trade in Mozambique. Also cognizant of the constraints Eswatini traders are currently facing in that country, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade wishes to draw it to the attention of Eswatini traders of the need to take precaution and exercise due diligence when engaging in trade in Mozambique, given the prevailing situation,” said part of the statement.
According to the statement, pursuant to this situation, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade is continuously monitoring the situation and will provide update on further developments working together with the Eswatini Embassy in Mozambique.
