MBABANE – National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) is taking steps to strengthen the country’s Multi Hazard Early Warning System. This is intended to support national resilience by ensuring communities, sectors, and decision makers receive timely information before hazards escalate into disasters.

Stakeholders from various critical sectors gathered at Sibane Sami Hotel in Ezulwini for the Multi Hazard Early Warning System Technical Working Group session. Participants include climate scientists, agricultural specialists, health professionals, water resource and environmental experts, and infrastructure planners.

The session is focused on producing the Quarterly Multi Hazard Bulletin, which links scientific forecasts with preparedness activities. The bulletin will include a shared hazard calendar, sector updates, and joint analysis, aiming to help anticipate and respond to threats such as droughts, floods, epidemics, wildfires, and other hazards.

The initiative reflects an ongoing effort to ensure that early warnings translate into timely action, helping safeguard lives, livelihoods, and essential services across the country. By continuing to strengthen collaboration and information sharing, NDMA seeks to support communities and sectors in making informed decisions that reduce risk and enhance overall preparedness.

The working session brought together experts from multiple sectors to collaborate on the Quarterly Multi Hazard Bulletin, a tool designed to connect scientific data with practical preparedness and response measures.
