MATSANJENI – In a significant development for the people of Matsanjeni South, hope is being restored as the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade has confirmed that Generations Inc., a reputable South African textile company, will take over operations at the Matsanjeni Factory.
The factory had previously been operated by Davinscott, whose unexpected closure led to the loss of around 400 jobs, deeply affecting the local community. The new takeover is seen as a major breakthrough that promises not only economic revival but also a boost in employment opportunities for the region.
The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) has played a key role in securing the new investor, ensuring that due diligence was followed and that a credible, experienced player in the textile industry was brought on board. Generations Inc. Has an impressive track record in the sector and is expected to begin operations soon.
“We are proud to welcome Generations Inc. To Eswatini. Their presence marks a new beginning for Matsanjeni,” said Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Honourable Manqoba Khumalo. “We are especially grateful to the Traditional Leadership, the Member of Parliament, Indvuna yeNkhundla, and the residents of Matsanjeni for their support and patience during this transition.”
EIPA will work closely with Generations Inc. Over the coming weeks to finalise all legal and operational requirements. The company is expected to announce its plans shortly, offering renewed hope for those who were affected by the closure.
This positive development underscores the government’s commitment to economic recovery and sustainable job creation, particularly in rural areas. With the community’s warm welcome and the leadership’s support, the future looks bright for Matsanjeni.
