MHLANGATANE – A significant milestone has been reached in the Mpofu community under Mhlangatane Inkhundla.

The Ministry of Economic Planning and Development, through its Microprojects Programme, today, 28 January, proudly handed over a state-of-the-art community hall and the transformative Mantabovu low-level crossing, marking a new chapter of progress and connectivity for the area.

The Mpofu Community Hall is set to serve as a hub for 800 residents of Mpofu and an additional 2 000 individuals from surrounding areas.

This multi-functional facility is more than just a building; it represents a platform for gatherings, education, and collaborative growth.

Government’s commitment to empowering communities is evident through the substantial contribution of E3 066 683.19, sourced from the Community Development Special Fund (CDSF). This funding covered materials and skilled labor, while the community showcased unity and dedication by contributing E50 per homestead, used to build a two-door toilet.

The Mantabovu low-level crossing, a vital infrastructure, promises to enhance communication and trade between Mpofu and its neighboring communities. Linking schools, shops, and households, the crossing is a testament to the transformative power of infrastructure in improving livelihoods. A generous E5 262 366.05 was allocated by the CDSF to ensure the crossing’s successful completion. Once again, community members played an active role, contributing local materials such as stones, river sand, and water, reflecting the essence of communal spirit.

The event was graced by notable figures, including Under Secretary Siboniso Masilela and Microprojects Director Sibusiso Mbingo, alongside officials from the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development.

Madala Mhlanga, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Mhlangatane’s Member of Parliament, represented the Inkhundla with pride, while Indvuna Mangomeni Ndzimamdze of Mayiwane Umphakatsi added a traditional touch to the proceedings.

This remarkable achievement symbolizes the power of collaboration between the government and communities. The new facilities will undoubtedly inspire progress, elevate quality of life, and foster unity in Mhlangatane. As Mpofu celebrates its new assets, the spotlight shines on the community’s dedication and the government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development.

Indeed, brighter days lie ahead for Mhlangatane, where these investments will echo for generations to come. This is more than infrastructure—it is a legacy of empowerment and hope.
