NHLANGANO – Rhymes, rhythms, and raw emotion took center stage as Poetry In A Park made a powerful debut in Nhlangano this past Saturday, June 14, 2025, under the compelling theme “N.H.O Speak.”
The southern town came alive as the popular poetry platform expanded beyond its usual Mbabane base, planting creative roots in the Shiselweni region—and it did not disappoint.
With over 15 poets from across Eswatini gracing the stage at Nhlangano Park, the event showcased an electric blend of emerging voices and seasoned performers, leaving the audience inspired and igniting the town’s artistic spirit.
“As a team—from the sponsors, partners, and organisers—we deeply appreciate the investment and support shown to the poetry scene, especially here in Nhlangano,” said Thubelihle Maseko, the event’s coordinator. “We salute every artist who travelled to witness greatness, and we celebrate each local poet who took the stage.”
Among the standout performers was headliner OPK (Simphiwe Simelane), whose captivating delivery set the tone for the evening. Local stars such as Teejay, Sams, Gobizitha, and Sibahle held their own, delivering performances that resonated with authenticity and power.
“It was beautiful and inspiring to see over 15 artists leave the stage with their flames burning bright,” Maseko added. “We were honoured to host each and every one.”
The success of the Nhlangano edition signals a broader vision for the platform, with organizers already planning the next Poetry In A Park event, slated for October 2025 at Ezulwini Plant Co—promising an even bigger showcase of poetic talent.
The Nhlangano event was made possible through partnerships with R. Visuals, Weirdo Clothing, and Jonokuhle Upholstery, highlighting the role of local businesses in uplifting Eswatini’s creative industries.
This edition marks a milestone moment—not just for Poetry In A Park, but for the growing cultural landscape in rural Eswatini, proving that poetry truly knows no borders.
