OLD MUTUAL DONATES E10K TO ESWATINI EPILEPSY ORGANISATION

MBABANE – His Royal Highness Prince Bandzile, the patron of Eswatini Epilepsy Organisation received E10 000 from Old Mutual which would go to Mbusomuni Mahlalela Charity Education Fund.

The presentation of the cheque was held on Thursday (July 4, 2025) at Ezulwini.

The Mahlalela Fund was founded by Eswatini Epilepsy Organisation and it was officially launched yesterday in remembrance of the late Mbusomuni Mahlalela who was the founder and Director of Eswatini Epilepsy Organisation.

This fund was formed to assist children who are living with epilepsy in the country. The donation will ensure that every child must have a chance to education even those who are living with epilepsy without the fear of financial constraints.

 

Upon receiving the E10 000 cheque, Prince Bandzile showed his appreciation to old mutual and he mentioned that this fund would assist three students a year. He also applauded the work which was done by the late Mbusomuni Mahlalela in this organisation which left a mark that would never be closed by anyone.

“Mahlalela prioritised the needs for all students especially those living with epilepsy. No student must stop his/her education because they can not pay their examination fees. We appreciate these companies and organisations who continuing with his dream,” he said.

Old mutual Ayandza Motsa said that at old mutual they believes in the power of education and the power to create inclusive opportunities for students regardless of their challenges.

 

“We understand the unique struggles faced by epileptic students and the importance of providing them with the resources. They need to excel in their academic journey. This donation is to show our dedication to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most,” he said.

The Director of Mahlalela education fund Lindelwa Mahlalela who is the daughter of the late Mbusomuni Mahlalela on her remarks she said that the nation have to know the importance of this fund which by this organisation aim to give a brighter future to the children living with epilepsy.

She further stated that the Mahlalela fund is going to assist those marginalised group of children who are often characterized by stigma and discrimination because they have epilepsy, so that they can have an opportunity to finish their studies.

During event proceedings the Prince noticed destitute children who are assisted by the Mahlalela education fund, he gave them blankets and shoes among other items.
