MBABANE – The three athletes heading to the 2024 Paris Olympics Games are set for unforgettable memories during the games.
The trio of athlete Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa, swimmers Hayley Hoy and Chadd Ning will be bid farewell on Friday (July 19, 2024) as they will be leaving for the game starting July 26 to August 11 in Paris, France.
According to africanews.com, the Olympic and Paralympic Village in France is ready to welcome nearly 15 000 competing athletes, complete with a gym, nursery and a restaurant serving international cuisine including African-Caribbean, Asian, world cuisine, and of course, French dining.
Athletes will be welcomed with nutritious meals and comfortable lodging.
The site is the size of 70 football pitches and will offer a large dining hall with different food stations, a vast gym, training grounds for a number of sports, a polyclinic, prayer rooms and an anti-doping centre.
Athletes will be able to travel across the site on board electric vehicles, from the Seine River’s relaxing areas to the transport hub on the other side of the village.
The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) announced the team last that will be representing the country in the biggest sporting event.
The trio will be led by Athletics Eswatini (AE) President and EOCGA Vice-President Zakhele Dlamini Chef De Mission with General Manager being Thoba Mazibuko. The team Psychologist is Lungi Khanya and Physiotherapist is Chairman Rudd.
Swazi Bolt will compete in 100m with the duo of swimmers Hayley Hoy and Chadd Ning competing in the 100m butterfly.
