MBABANE – “We won’t let you down.” These were the heartfelt words of newly elected Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President, Peter “Samora” Simelane, shortly after his election victory as he posed proudly with his fellow executive members.

Simelane, who takes over the reins with a renewed vision for football development, expressed his gratitude to the football family for entrusting him and his team with the responsibility of steering the sport into a brighter future.

Speaking in an interview, Simelane revealed his immediate plans: “What we are going to do now is develop football at the regional levels and make sure we get good results that reflect strong team performance. That will help promote Eswatini teams to improve in FIFA rankings.”

He went on to highlight infrastructure as a key focus area: “We are also in talks with the government of Eswatini, who have already played a major role in ensuring that Somhlolo National Stadium meets CAF standards. Probably by January, Somhlolo will be fully refurbished.”

The election marks a fresh chapter for the EFA, with stakeholders and supporters alike hopeful that Simelane’s leadership will bring innovation, inclusivity, and stronger partnerships to benefit football across all levels – from grassroots to the professional stage.

The new executive has pledged to prioritize youth development, women’s football, and infrastructural growth, all crucial for the long-term sustainability of the sport.

Football fans, clubs, and officials at the announcement welcomed the outcome with optimism, confident that the new leadership will deliver on its promises.

With determination in his voice, Simelane concluded: “This is the beginning of a new era for our football. We will work hand in hand with every stakeholder to ensure our game flourishes. We won’t let Eswatini down.”
