MBABANE – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has thrown its wait in resolving Manzini Wanderers case fair, lawful, and transparent manner.

PLE said to this end, the issue has been referred to the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) through the Eswatini Football Association (EFA), and they now await guidance in line with the statutes that govern football both nationally and internationally. They urged all stakeholders to respect the processes and structures in place and to allow space for an objective and lasting resolution.

This matter stems from a dispute that originally involved Manzini Wanderers FC and Denver Sundowns FC, later contested by Moneni Pirates FC. PLE claim to have maintained a neutral position, as the issue has always been a dispute between member clubs and not the League itself.

In line with football governance structures, PLE said EFA holds the mandate and authority to resolve such matters. The PLE has consistently communicated this to all parties, including Manzini Wanderers FC.

In a statement released by the PLE on Wednesday afternoon, On Friday, 11 April 2025, PLE attorneys appeared in court for contempt proceedings instituted by Manzini Wanderers FC. The matter was postponed after the EFA indicated its intention to file answering papers, and the PLE sought to submit a supplementary affidavit outlining steps taken to implement the earlier High Court ruling. The court awarded wasted costs to Manzini Wanderers FC due to the postponement.

The PLE added that on Tuesday morning, an individual acting on behalf of the Sheriff’s office arrived at the PLE offices with a Writ of Execution, demanding payment of E38 260. The individual claimed to have strict instructions to attach movable property belonging to the PLE in the event of non-payment.

Following legal advice, the PLE filed an urgent application to stay the execution and to set aside the taxed Bill of Costs, on the basis that the League had not been served with or notified of the private taxation process which led to the issuance of the writ. However, the presiding judge directed all parties to return to court the next day to address all related matters. As a result, the urgent application was not heard on that day.

To avoid further disruption to League operations and ensure stability, the PLE made the payment of the disputed amount under protest while legal processes continue.

The 2024/ 25 season will end next month without Manzini Wanderers kicking a ball as they were left out of the MTN Premier League and the Ingwenyama Cup.
