MBABANE – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has called on health workers to embrace the transformative measures introduced by Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula to revitalize Eswatini’s public health sector.

Speaking during his visit to public health facilities within the Mbabane-Manzini corridor on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the premier highlighted the necessity of restructuring the Ministry of Health to meet the sector’s growing demands.

“The Ministry of Health requires complete restructuring in terms of its organogram and functions. The challenges have grown significantly, but we have not adjusted the way we work to address these demands,” Dlamini remarked.

The prime minister expressed confidence in Minister Matsebula’s leadership, praising his efforts to address the crisis and urging health workers to collaborate. “The changes brought by the minister are necessary. I encourage all health workers not to resist these reforms, as they are essential for progress,” he said.
Dlamini also emphasized the importance of innovation in driving the sector forward, aiming to establish Eswatini’s health system as a benchmark for the Southern African Development Community (SADC). “Our goal is to make Eswatini’s health sector an exemplary model in the region, attracting other nations to learn from us,” he declared.
Acknowledging improvements since Minister Matsebula’s appointment a year ago, the prime minister noted that further efforts were required. He called for unity and a shared commitment to the sector’s transformation.
“As we work together to overcome challenges, it is vital for all stakeholders to pull in one direction. In the end, everyone should feel proud to have been part of this journey toward meeting our nation’s aspirations,” Dlamini concluded.
