MBABANE – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has called on members of the Lutsango regiment under his office to conduct themselves with dignity during the Buganu ceremony at Hlane Royal Residence.

Addressing the Lutsango from the Private and Cabinet Offices and the National Emergency Response Council on HIV and AIDS on March 7, 2025, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of upholding the stature of the Prime Minister’s Office during the event. The group was commissioned to attend the second leg of the 2025 Buganu Ceremony.

According to the Eswatini Government, Dlamini reminded the Lutsango that their behavior would reflect on the office they represent.

“Please be representative of the stature of the office. Gatherings have a tendency of making people too excited, so I request that you reprimand one another when the excitement gets too much. Keep your dignity intact,” Dlamini advised.

He further highlighted that misconceptions about the Buganu ceremony often arise from hearsay. “Most people, when they talk about Buganu, normally say what they have heard other people say. And yet when you personally go there, you are in a position to say what is true and accurate about the ceremony. I am happy that you are going to attend this beautiful event,” he said.

In addition to the Lutsango from government ministries, departments, parastatals, private companies, and all chiefdoms across the country, the ceremony will welcome distinguished guests from across the African continent.

Notably, women parliamentarians, including South Africa’s National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza, Malawi’s House of Assembly Speaker Catherine Gotani Hara, and South Africa’s Women’s Parliamentary Caucus Chairperson Mary-Ann Lindelwa Dunjwa, will be part of the festivities.

Other prominent attendees will include the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature of South Africa, Lindi Lettie Masina; Chairperson of the Multi-Party Women’s Caucus in South Africa, Dereleen Elana James; Kenyan Member of Parliament Beatrice Kahai Adagala; Zambian National Assembly Member Emelda Munashabantu; Zambia’s National Assembly Senior Hansard Editor Wakumelo Lutangu; and Onoja Obiageli from Zambia.

The parliamentarians are also expected to participate in Kwetfula before Her Majesty the Indlovukazi at Hlane Royal Residence, adding a notable element of international camaraderie to the event.

The presence of these esteemed leaders is anticipated to enhance the prestige of the Buganu Ceremony, celebrating Eswatini’s rich culture and promoting unity among African nations.
