MBABANE – PICO Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati says the nation’s discipline during the 22nd Police Day 2025 should serve as a model for upcoming national events, including Umhlanga.
Speaking in an interview with Channel S on August 16, 2025, Senior Superintendent Vilakati commended the public for ensuring that the celebration, held yesterday at the Police Academy, was peaceful and well-organized.
“I am proud to say there were no reports of accidents or lost valuables. Everything went according to plan,” she said.
Superintendent Vilakati urged the public to maintain the same spirit of orderliness. “We know that when large crowds gather, incidents often happen. This time there were none, which shows that the nation can behave responsibly. As we approach other big events like Umhlanga, we will ask the nation to repeat this kind of behavior. It is good for Eswatini,” she added.
Held under the theme “Sitse Nkwe! Silubondza Lekucinisa Tekuphepha”, this year’s Police Day highlighted both the dedication of the police force and the deep respect for the monarchy. Thousands attended the event in person, while many more followed virtually. Vilakati also acknowledged the presence of Their Majesties during the celebration.
A major highlight of the day was the passing-out parade of 198 graduating police recruits, marking the start of their active service to the country.
