MBABANE – Today, Mavuso Exhibition and Trade Centre buzzed with excitement and pride as Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Class of 2023 and 2024 Graduation Ceremony took place.
The event was not just a celebration of academic achievements but a testament to the indomitable spirit of its students and the visionary ethos of the institution. The ceremony marked the culmination of academic journey lasting three to four years for the graduating students. This year’s ceremony was unique as it produced the very first crop of Bachelor’s Degree in addition to the Associate Degree holders.
With the theme ‘Creativity without limits”, the graduation ceremony saw 1800 graduates receiving their scrolls today.
The ceremony was officiated by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, who was represented by Dr. Tambo Gina. Gina expressed his joy as he said the government was proud of the students. He advised the students to strive to be contributors to a Eswatini’s growth and aim to be participants to the world.
He addressed the graduates, “You have shown us what it means to be resilient, adaptable, and creative in the face of unprecedented challenges. As you embark on your next chapter, remember to think beyond the traditional job employment and think entrepreneurship. You must have one common purpose, which is to improve your lives and contribute to the growth of Eswatini,” Gina said.
He added that the world was changing fast, and the graduates needed to be adaptable, resilient, creative, and compassionate.
“I have no doubt whatsoever that you will contribute tremendously toward the future of the creative world,” he added.
This year’s graduation held special significance as it was the first one in Eswatini since the passing of the university’s beloved founder. Yet, his legacy was palpable in every corner of the ceremony.
Limkokwing University Campus Director Thobile Gumede, emphasized the institution’s commitment to training students as experts in their respective fields through technology-driven approaches. She highlighted the theme of this year’s graduation, urging graduates to harness their skills to make a difference in the rapidly evolving landscape of technology, creativity, and innovation.
“We thank the king for noticing this university and bringing it to the country. In our group of students, more than 80 per cent of them are sponsored by the government. The university’s scholarships have saved many students and that is our culture, it is all about the students and their achievements,” she said.
The ceremony was graced by a number of important guests which included the institution’s international representatives, government officials and other academics.
Founded by the late Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing, the university has always been a beacon of innovation, creativity, and global connectivity. The university’s unique approach to education, blending academic rigour with real-world experience, has produced graduates who are not only job-ready but world-ready.
