MBABANE – The Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, HRH Prince Lonkhokhela, held a strategic meeting with World Bank Resident Representative Ikechi Okorie on February 12, 2025, to discuss initiatives aimed at improving energy and water access in Eswatini.
During the meeting, Prince Lonkhokhela expressed his appreciation for the World Bank’s ongoing support, particularly highlighting the ASCENT project, which is designed to advance energy access across the country. He emphasized that while Eswatini has made progress, more support is needed to achieve universal access to energy and clean water by 2030.
In response, Okorie reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to assisting Eswatini in achieving its developmental goals. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of energy and water projects, which are crucial for economic growth and social well-being.
The discussion signals strengthened ties between Eswatini and the World Bank as they work towards sustainable development and improved infrastructure for the nation’s citizens.
