MBABANE – Minister of Natural Resources and Energy Prince Lonkhokhela met with investors from Renova Group of companies, who are visiting the country from Russia.
This meeting was held at Private and Cabinet Offices yesterday (Thursday, July 25, 2024).
The Renova Group of companies was initially invited in the country by the Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini after his visit to Belarus last month. He invited them to explore investment opportunities with relevant Government Ministries in Eswatini.
This meeting highlighted potential collaboration between Renova and Eswatini, as they expressed their interest in investing in the country, not only in the energy and mining sectors but also in other technical industries.
They also discuss different issues to be improved in the Ministry of Natural and Resources, Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) and the Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority (ESERA).
According to their website to Renova official website www.madeinrussia.ru, this company, founded Victor Vekselberg in 1990, is a Russian conglomerate with interests in aluminum, oil, energy, telecoms and a variety of other sectors.
It is primarily active in Russia, Switzerland, South Africa and the United States. Renova maintains very close ties to both Saudi Arabia and the Arab world as a member of the Russian-Saudi Economic Council and the Russian-Saudi and Russian-Arab Business Councils which are part of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI). Vladimir Yevtushenkov, who founded and controls Sistema, is the chairman of both the Russian-Saudi and Russian-Arab Business Councils since 2002.
