HLATHIKHULU – Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla has officially launched the newly completed multipurpose hall at Salem High School.

This project represents a significant step forward for educational infrastructure and community empowerment.

The DPM hailed the hall as a “centre of learning, collaboration, and community-building,” underscoring government’s dedication to uplifting rural education. Funded by the Regional Development Fund (RDF), the hall was made possible through Nkwene Inkhundla, which has invested over E20 million in infrastructure and income-generating projects in the past five years.

“This hall is more than just a structure,” said Dladla.

“It is a symbol of the resilience and unity of the Salem community, showcasing how development through education can transform lives.”

The multipurpose hall is set to become a hub for academic activities, cultural events, and community programmes. It will not only enhance the learning environment for students but also serve as a valuable resource for the broader community. Dladla urged the community to develop a sustainability plan to ensure the hall remains in excellent condition and to protect it from vandalism.

Emphasising inclusivity, Dladla called for the creation of barrier-free environments and adaptable spaces to accommodate learners of all abilities. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes inclusive and equitable education for all.

The DPM also commended the traditional leaders and community members for their invaluable role in national development, particularly their foresight in allocating land for education and community projects.

In closing, Dladla encouraged other schools to work hand in hand with their respective Tinkhundla to initiate similar infrastructure developments. “The resources are there,” she affirmed. “Let us harness them to create vibrant, supportive learning spaces.”
