LOBAMBA – Senate President Lindiwe Dlamini has heaped praises on Government for putting together a successful Eswatini Investment Conference.
During the Senate sitting on May 19, 2025, Dlamini said the event was inaugural, but Government was able to pull out a successful event. The event attracted many investors, who pledged to invest E37 billion into the country’s economy by expanding their businesses and/or starting new enterprises within the country.
What is good about these investments is that they will also create many job opportunities in the country. Speaking about the event, Dlamini praised Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo for having put together an auspicious event. However, Dlamini was quick to note that the Commerce Ministry worked with all Government Ministries and departments to ensure that the event was successful.
Dlamini said the conference was an opportunity for most of Emaswati to learn new things. She was impressed to learn that Emaswati can do a lot of wonderful things for the country. She called upon citizens of this country to ensure that they always supported business people from this country, as they have been able to show that there were many things they could do for this country.
The president wished for Emaswati to get rid of the thinking that good things could only be done by those that were from outside the country. The Eswatini Investment Conference was held from May 14 to 15 at the Sharma House in Ezulwini. It was officially opened by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and he officially closed it the following day.
During the conference, 11 companies from inside and outside the country promised to inject a combined investment of E37 billion to start projects aimed at improving the country’s economy. What was good about the conference is that it was able to be watched in 52 African countries, through CNBC Africa. Another positive take-away was that at the auditorium, there were many people such that some could not be able to sit. However, That was later sorted out.
