MBABANE – With seven players released by South Africa’s Betway Premiership side, Magesi FC, Nsingizini Hotspurs’ Thubelihle Mavuso stands a chance of securing a deal as he joins the club for an assessment.

The national team player, part of the Sihlangu squad, joined the Polokwane-based side’s training session on Tuesday afternoon under Coach Owen Da Gama, who took over in late December. If Mavuso impresses Da Gama, he could sign during the current registration window.

Nsingizini Hotspurs are not in action this weekend, having been eliminated in the Ingwenyama Cup’s last 32 stage by MTN National First Division League side Red Rhinos in a 2-1 defeat.

Mavuso has been described by South Africa’s online publication, Kick-Off, as one of the most exciting young talents to emerge from Eswatini in recent years.

“The midfielder has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents to come out of Eswatini in a long time and has been part of the Sihlangu Semnikati squad during the AFCON and CHAN qualifiers,” Kick-Off wrote.

Mavuso was also part of the Nsingizini Hotspurs squad that faced South Africa’s Stellenbosch in the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round last year.

According to Kick-Off, Mavuso’s agent, Mhlonishwa Shiba from Kayro Sports Agency, confirmed the player’s presence at Magesi FC.

“There is a lot of talent emerging in Eswatini at the moment. Mavuso is one of them and a bright prospect. Our main objective is to expose this talent, especially to a major league like the Betway Premiership,” Shiba told Kick-Off.

If successful, Mavuso will join another LiSwati, Justice Figareido, who is currently the only international player in the Betway Premiership, representing Richards Bay FC.

The seven players reportedly axed by Magesi FC include former Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota, Limbikani Mzava, Kgaogelo Sekgoto, Jacob Everson, Njoti Tumelo, Mokhele Maloisane, Masegela Tholang, and Bongani Mpandle.
