MBABANE – The Siphofaneni Inkhundla will never be the same after hosting the Shukuma Eswatini, under the Eswatini Recreation Sport Council (ESRC).
The Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs pledged to construct toilets for the area’s sports ground. This was revealed by the ministry’s Under Secretary, Mzwandile Mthethwa, who was representing the minister during the event attended by over 500 people.
Mthethwa said the Shukuma programme has changed the lives of many people in the different Tinkhundla Centres around the country.
He said they noted with concern the lack of ablution facilities at the venue and assured that the ministry will construct good toilets for the community at the sports ground that always attract a number of spectators during games and other social events.
Also present on the day was that area’s Member of Parliament (MP) Nomalungelo ‘Umkhokheli’ Simelane. She appreciated the gesture by the ministry and expressed her delight on the food hampers given to some disadvantaged families in the area.
The ESRC presented seven families with groceries at the end of what was an eventful day.
ESRC Media Officer Dumisani Ntiwane said that they always assisted families during the Shukuma Eswatini Programme.
“This is part of our corporate social responsibility programme. A total of seven families, one from each of the Umphakatsi making up the Inkhundla will enjoy good food at least for the next several days and that to us is so gratifying. We will continue to do more for our people, as we cover the kingdom. We will be announcing our next destination for the next event as we want to finish the year on a high,” he said.
