MBABANE – Shukuma Eswatini continues to benefit communities around the country with Zombodze Emuva being the latest beneficiary.

A total of four chiefdoms under the Inkhundla will have upgraded sports ground. This was revealed by Ministry of Sports Culture and Youth Affairs Under Secretary (US), Mzwandile Mthethwa, who represented the minister, Bongani Nzima during Shukuma Eswatini hosted by the Inkhundla on Saturday.

Shukuma is the Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council (ESRC) mass participation programme, aimed at encouraging all Emaswati to live healthy lives.

Addressing the slightly over 1 000 people who turned up for the spectacular programme, Mthethwa said the upgrade will start immediately.

“We have noted that the state of the majority of playing grounds here needs attention. That is why the minister has sent me to announce to you the ministry’s decision to upgrade all four playing fields.

“This in essence means that we will upgrade a ground in each of the chiefdoms,” he said.

The spectacular programme also attracted corporate giants and ESRC social partners and the country’s National Sports Associations.

ESRC Media Officer, Dumisani Ntiwane said they will continue to cover the whole country with the programme.

“Of course Shukuma has revolved to become a premium platform for mass public engagement, hence our partners are always happy to be associated with Shukuma.

“Following the overwhelming success of the last Shukuma we had in Siphofaneni, this was even more engaging. The numbers were bigger and we are happy with the turn out of our people,” Ntiwane said
