MANZINI – A celebration of rich cultural heritage showcasing local talent in fashion, music, and art!
The official launch of ‘Sidvwedvwe Indvwangu Nemswenko Mgcibelos’ is set to take place at IF’s Lounge (Moneni, Carson Building) on Saturday (February 22, 2025), as confirmed by Diba Diba Dlamini who will be hosting the event.
The launch promises an impressive line-up of local artists, including Diba Diba, Menzi Afrikha, Qibho Intalektual, and Sive Motsa. Each artist will bring their unique flair to the stage, creating an exciting and diverse experience for attendees.
When reached for comment Diba Diba shared his insights on the importance of the Sidvwedvwe Indvwangu Nemswenko Mgcibelos initiative. He emphasized that this event is a unique and proudly Swati experience that welcomes creatives from across the Kingdom. “The aim is to create an atmosphere for collaborations that showcase dynamic and diverse talents from Eswatini,” he explained. Dlamini highlighted the significance of promoting local content, including fashion, art, music, and Eswatini-made products.
He underscored the importance of showcasing local craftsmanship and creativity on a larger scale. He pointed out that traditional garments, such as ‘Emahiya’, are widely recognized and sought after for their unique designs and cultural significance, not just within Eswatini but across Africa and beyond.
The influence of our culture has reached notable figures in the music industry. Diba Diba noted that renowned South African DJ Kabza De Small wore a suit with lihiya lining at the prestigious Redbull Symphony event, demonstrating the global appeal of Swazi fashion. “This event is to awaken the sleeping giants inside of us as emaSwati; we are unique and should take pride in that,” he emphasized.
The launch at IF’s Lounge is designed to bring together musicians, fashionistas, and artists from various backgrounds, creating a melting pot of creativity and innovation. Diba Diba encouraged the public to join the celebration, stating, “We urge the public to come join us this Saturday. Entrance is absolutely free (right of admission reserved). The dress code is local designs and brands, though it’s not compulsory; the aim is to promote local talent.”
