MBABANE – Creativity meets hustle!

At just 22 years old Sikhetsiso Dlamini is already making waves as a young creative entrepreneur from Nkoyoyo. A Public Relations student at Limkokwing University, she expertly balances her studies with her passions for design and creativity, turning them into purposeful side hustles.

From a home studio, she has crafted a growing business that includes doing nails ,making scrunchies, creating Pinterest-style frames, and dyeing clothes. What began as small, personal projects for herself and close friends has evolved into a mini-empire appealing to students, young professionals, and fellow creatives.

“I’ve always loved working with my hands and expressing myself through fashion and design,” she says. “It began out of curiosity and pure passion.”

Dlamini Pinterest-inspired frames stand marrying digital art with Afrocentric aesthetics, Each piece tells a story or reflects the personality of the customer, offering more than just decor—it’s art that speaks.

Her self-taught approach to dyeing clothes, especially upcycling old garments, showcases her commitment to sustainability. “It’s sustainable and creative,” she emphasizes, noting that repurposing fashion fuels her dream of launching her own clothing line one day.

Her scrunchies, curated based on seasonal trends and personal taste, blend style and practicality. “I like adding my own touch to everything I make; it keeps it original,” she explains.

Even her nail work, characterized by minimalist designs with abstract flair, reflects her keen eye for detail and style. Working from home allows her to maintain flexibility with her schedule, though she admits that time management and access to resources can be challenging.

Despite the demands of student life, Dlamini remains grounded and driven. “Seeing my ideas come to life and people loving my work keeps me motivated,” she shares.

Looking ahead, she envisions building a brand that fuses creativity, beauty, and self-expression, possibly even going full-time with one or more of her ventures.

Her message to young women in business is clear and powerful: “Start small, stay consistent, and don’t be afraid to stand out. Believe in your ideas, even when others don’t see the vision yet.”
