LOBAMBA– Joy and celebration filled the air today at the Eswatini National Achievers as Siphocosini High School was crowned the Champions of the Sibitelo Competition 2025.

The annual event, which showcases young talent in Siswati literature and speech, continues to grow in stature since its inception in 2023.

Siphocosini High School outperformed fierce competitors and walked away with impressive prizes such as a laptop, a trophy, and a copy of Umphandza, a literary work celebrated for its cultural depth. The two learners who led the school to victory each received a cellphone and their own copy of Umphandza.

Nomcebo Dlamini Kalavi, a proud Siswati teacher from Siphocosini High School, could not hold back her excitement. “We are truly proud. The students worked so hard, and today, their efforts have paid off,” she said with a beaming smile.

The students themselves were overjoyed by the win, sharing how the competition not only boosted their confidence but also deepened their appreciation for the Siswati language and culture. They reflected on the valuable lessons they learned, from teamwork to public speaking and literary interpretation.

Hlobisile Stromvig, Director of Imisebe Publishing, expressed satisfaction with the event’s success. “We are happy that this event went well. The competition was established in 2023, with the inaugural trophy claimed by Swazi National High School from the  Manzini Region. Seeing it grow each year and inspire young minds is truly fulfilling,” she said.

This year’s competition results saw Siphocosini High School taking first place, followed by Sibusisweni High School in second place. Ndabazezwe High School and Mkhondvo High School tied for third place, rounding off a highly competitive and inspiring Sibitelo 2025 edition.
