SITSEBE IN HISTORICAL 6-0 VICTORY OVER SEYCHELLES IN COSAFA OPENER

MBABANE – The Women Football National team, Sitsebe recorded historical 6-0 win over Seychelles in the opening match of the COSAFA Women’s Championships at Nelson Mandela Bay, Gqeberha on Tuesday afternoon.

They were seating on top of Group A after the big win while South Africa’s Banyana Banyana was due to play Namibia to complete the opening matches of group A. Since Sitsebe debuted in the tournament they have never made such a big win while their biggest loss was against Malawi, the defending champions last year, 8-0.

The one sided match went to half time with the locals leading 2-0 through goals scored by Tenanile Ngcamphalala who scored his first hatrick in the tournament and Celiwe Nkambule who netted a brace while the sixth goal was scored by Njabulo Ndlovu.

Seychelles were making their debut in a decade in the tournament and their failed to match the locals. This is Sitsebe’s biggest win in the tournament since they started playing in 2022.

Their real test will come on Friday when they face South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in their second match of Group A and they last match will be against Namibia on October 28, a game that would be played under the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Only the group winners will go through to the semi-finals of the tournament and Sitsebe is yet to make it through of the group stages in the tournament.
